Was walking down Hennepin Ave. when I saw this. First billboard of mine that I’ve seen.
And now this . . .
October 30th, 2009D’Amico Kitchen Ad
October 8th, 2009
Just got this from Ned over at Brew Creative (www.brew-creative.com). The ad features work of mine done recently for D’Amico & Partners. They are attempting an interesting thing - they will be streaming video of their chefs in action.
D’Amico Kitchen
September 30th, 2009
The good people at D’Amico & Partners were kind enough to hire me to shoot food for their newest restaurant, the D’Amico Kitchen at the Chambers Hotel in downtown Minneapolis (www.chambersminneapolis.com/chambers-hotel-kitchen).
Maggie Stopera (http://maggiethefoodstylist.com/) and I spent a very pleasant day shooting (and tasting) 6 different dishes.

Big ups to my friend, head chef John Occhiato. Here he is in all his glory:

Stonewood, LLC
September 30th, 2009
Haven’t gotten much of a chance to put any new work up lately, but I’m going to correct that today. I don’t usually do interiors but got a chance to work on a project with Sven and Anna at Stonewood LLC (www.stonewood.com) earlier this summer, and really enjoyed it.

Valspar WomenBuild
August 3rd, 2009
Valspar, the Minneapolis-based paint company, has a dedicated core of volunteer employees that team up with Habitat For Humanity (www.tchabitat.org) every summer to build homes. I was really blown away by the focus they worked with. I know it’s cliche, but there is something so therapeutic to working with your hands in that capacity, to see your immediate effort give shape to form. This beer is to you ladies!
Ciao Cucina!
July 30th, 2009
I was able to talk my way into famed Minneapolis restaurant D’Amico Cucina to photograph its last night of serving 4-Star Italian to the public. The essay is up on my website. I am really happy with how it turned out, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer & more accommodating. If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant, you will recognize the imagery. Several local blogs have been kind enough to link to the essay, and the views I’ve received of the work have blown me away - over 600 people! Fantastico!
A tree grows in North Minneapolis
July 13th, 2009
I’m set to begin some new work on my North Minneapolis project (the first phase - the Polaroid work - will be appearing on my website soon). The new work is more portraiture then landscape, but my interest in pushing on with a new stage of this work started with this shot. It might be fairly prosaic (in fact I’ve thought that would be a great curated group show: “Prosaic, MN” - but how many pictures of Mini-Donuts stands, VFW’s & farm-town parades can you stomach?), but there is something in this I like and that interests me. It’s a block from my studio in the industrial part of North Minneapolis, right by the Mississippi River. There is a fairly new, for lack of a better term, metal crunching machine that was built and now there is an ever evolving mountain of scrap. I’m curious to see what it will look like after our first good snowstorm!
Flashlight Photo Rental
June 16th, 2009
My friend Raoul Benavides asked me to photograph a baby wearing some new swag for his company Flashlight Photo Rental (http://www.flashlightphotorental.com/). This is the adorable Zsuzsana, daughter of my friend and former art director at The Rake magazine Jessica Coulter Gallo. This baby had the sweetest disposition during the shoot, just a joy.
Theatre Promotion: Sandbox Theatre
June 10th, 2009
Did a bit of promotion work for my friends at Sandbox Theatre, a Minneapolis performance company. They are working on an original play called “June of Arc” about June Cleaver and what she was really thinking while vacuuming in pearls. This one-act play performs this summer in Minneapolis, I can’t wait to see it!
Shooting for PEOPLE
June 1st, 2009
I recently had my first shoot with PEOPLE magazine, photographing Dr. Bruce Bostrum, the doctor involved in the Daniel Hauser story. The child and his mother fled to California to avoid court-ordered chemotherapy for his Hodgkins lymphoma. Thankfully, the mother and child have returned so Daniel can resume his treatment.
